Idolatry: A Christian Perspective on Cyber
Wednesday, 4 July 2007
Cyberlovers are practicing idolatry
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: Lev 19:4 Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.
Topic: Cyber/Idolatry

What christianity calls "idolatry"(1), the cyberlover himself most likely would prefer calling it: "being a voyeur". Thus, claiming that he likes to watch. But, its not voyeurism, though. It's idolatry.

The "online lover" is an idolater just as much as the real life idolater is.  As both of them are achieving sexual gratification with an impersonal image(2).  And the question begs to be asked: Does the cyber idolater even begin to realise what he realy is into in so far as his sexual preference goes?

(1) Idolatry: Achieving sexual gratification with an impersonal image. (2) The "image" has highly evolved since the unset of the internet.
